Picture of the Inn on the Shore

Pub and Eating House and Bedrooms

This traditional Cornish village Inn is nestled in the spectacular beach cliffs of Downderry, near Looe. It is set amongst the unspoilt coastline and countryside and offers panoramic views of Downderry beach and the ocean beyond.  Downderry beach is a Marine Conservation Society recommended beach and the beach activities include swimming, sea canoeing, sailing, windsurfing and fishing.

We offer great food, local cask conditioned ales, fine wines and fresh, newly refurbished  accommodation with the most stunning views of the ocean

Great Food

The Inn on the Shore offers an extensive menu, from early morning breakfasts, lunch time light snacks and bar snacks to a la carte meals and carveries in our bars, restaurant and conservatory. We also serve traditional cream teas.

All our products are locally sourced and our meat is farm assured with full traceability.  Our fish is fresh from West Country ports.  This means to you as our customers the finest quality available and the security of knowing that what you get on your plate is honest quality that benefits the local economy.

Our children's menu has been carefully put together to ensure all products are free of any preservatives and contain only whole products.

Our comfortable accommodation is all en suite and each room enjoys a stunning view.  Our premier room has the most breathtaking view of the ocean, right on the cliff's edge, where you feel you are so close to the ocean that you can almost touch it.

Alfresco dining

There are decked areas with the most comfortable seating all overlooking the beach giving you the opportunity to take in the views and perhaps relax with a drink and a meal and watch the spectacular sunsets.  There is also an enclosed lawned garden with a children's play area.

From the A38 heading west, go over the Tamar Bridge in Plymouth, follow the road signs to Looe and then turn off on to the B3247 for Downderry. Follow the road in to Downderry and the Inn is located right in the middle of the village, on the water's edge.
